Getting Started

This is the ‘Wishful Blog‘ theme documentation page. We have tried our best to keep it as simple as possible. Let’s dive into theme process step by step.

Note : This page is for both Pro & Free Users.

Installing our theme is pretty easier. First, you need to get theme file of Wishful Blog. For that, you can get from WordPress or our Store. Let’s go into your current situation :

  1. Via WordPress

Log on to your WordPress theme dashboard. Now, navigate to Dashboard – Appearance – Themes. You can see Add New button at top. After clicking, you can find search field at right section and type ‘Wishful Blog‘ keyword. Then click on install and activate ‘Wishful Blog’ theme to use.

  1. Via our Store

Checkout the theme from our store and you will be able to download ‘Wishful Blog‘ theme. Once you downloaded successfully, you have two options to install and activate. Let’s check your situation :

  • Via WordPress

Navigate to Dashboard – Appearance – Themes after logging your site. You can see Add New button at top. After clicking it, you can see Upload Theme button right there. Click on it and select the theme file you downloaded from our Store. Then click on install and activate ‘Wishful Blog‘ theme to use.

  • Via FTP

Get log on into your site file manager through FTP accounts. Extract the file ‘‘ you downloaded from our Store. Go to the YourSiteName/WP-content/themes/ folder on your server and upload the extracted folder. Now, navigate to Dashboard – Appearance – Themes and you can see ‘Wishful Blog‘ theme listed. Click on install and activate to use it.

Now you have successfully installed and activated ‘Wishful Blog‘ theme. Cheers ! Now you can enjoy our theme features to manage your site.

Demo Import

If you wish to import the demo content and start to edit your site, then you can easily import the demos we have made for you. Before you start, you need to click on Get Started button which will be shown after activating ‘Wishful Blog‘ theme.

If you miss that, nothing to worry. You can search our plugin from Dashboard – Plugins – Add New. There you have to search for ‘Wishful Companion‘ and install and activate it. Once you activated, you will be redirected to import page.

Still you are confusion then, click here to download this plugin. Once you downloaded, upload this plugin from Dashboard – Plugins – Add New. There you can see upload button and you can install and activate it.

Now, after successfully activated, you can see all the demos that can be imported. You can preview the demo by hovering it and click live preview. If you want to import the demo you liked, then select the demo and you will be provided steps to follow.

Additional Information : No any datas or posts/pages will be affected while importing demos. You should not be worrying anything if you have existing pages and posts.

Note : Pro text are displayed for pro demos and cannot be imported untill and unless you are pro users.

Homepage Setup

Either you are a fresh installer or existing WordPress theme user, you have to check Homepage Display options. From Dashboard go to Settings – Readings.  Set your Homepage displays options to Your Latest Posts and Save this setting. If everything is same as above, there is nothing to change anymore.

By default, you will be seeing Add Menu as menu for site. You have to create your menu or use existing menu for site. For setting menu, go to Dashboard – Appearance – Menus and create your own menu.

You can create menu from pages, posts, categories, custom links and other taxonomies if is available from Add menu items bar. You can rearrange your menu structure by dragging menu items. Once, you have done for menu, you can find Menu Settings at bottom. Check Primary to set you created menu for site.

Customizing Theme

Now, it’s time to move for using theme features as well as some basic setup of your site. For that, you have to go to Dashboard – Appearance – Customize and you can find lots of options to manage your site. Here are quick links listed from customizer as per step by step to follow or click for jump to specific step.

Footer Options

Note : We assume that, you are inside customizer sections that means you have followed the instruction above.

Site Identity

This theme supports the default Site Identity section provided by the WordPress, and we have integrated some options in this section of the theme.

Logo, Site Title, Tagline & Site Icon can be uploaded and changed to the best suit your site. For these options, you can see Logo & Header Options. Go inside it and you can see Site Logo.

Now you can select your logo to upload for site. Along with it, you can edit site title, tagline, site color, site icon and padding options. To show your Site Title & Tagline, you can check Display Site Title and Tagline or uncheck to hide. Once you have done, click on publish to save your changes.

Header Options

We have options for header section where you can enable or disable options to show or hide respectively. For this, you have to navigate to Logo & Header Options.

First, you can set header image from here. You can set your best image for header by clicking Add New Image button.

Beside it, you can find checkbox to enable (show) or disable (hide) search icon, social links, user icon and sticky header also.

If you have installed WooCommerce Plugin, then you can find options for showing cart and prices from this section.

Fallback Image

Wishful blog has awesome feature where you rarely get the option ‘Fallback Image‘ in WordPress free themes. Now, we have brought for you and you can set your default image to show throughout the site.

By default, we have set the fallback image for you. But what a surprising is, we have made you wish to come true. You can upload your own image for fallback image and enable or disable options for it also.

You can find this option in ‘Fallback Image‘ section. We recommend you to use minimum 1200 by 900 PX of image size for best suite in all cases.

General Options

There are different general options for the site. We will describe every section included in general options.

Global Color

Global color applies to whole site, and we have provided with Primary Color option to set your wish color for site. By default, color is Golden Yellow (#fcb811).

Additional Information : Huge color options are available in Pro version.

Menu Color

Editing menu color is additional features for ‘Wishful Blog‘ free version. We have options for all menu color options just right for you in Menu Color section.

Body Typography

Beside headings, we have options for your body section and that is, Body Typography.

We have used ‘Poppins‘ google fonts by default, and we have limit the option for changing body typography. But limitation is not just limit, we have provided you famous and lovely font options which you will like one for sure.

Along with it, you can set the font size and font weight for that font you choose.

Additional Information : More than 800+ Google fonts options and advance typography options are in Pro Version.

Post Listing Title Typography

You might be looking for changing typography for Post Listing Title for your homepage, archive page or search page. So, we have here option to change the font options, font weight and font size of post title.

Widget Title Typography

You might be wondering about setting custom typography options for Widget Title appeared on your site right? So, from this section, you can change the font family, font weight and font size of widgets appeared on homepage widget area and sidebar widget area.

Social Links

You might be fond of social medias and what your visitors to visit your social media. For that, we have provided you famous social medias around the world. ‘Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube‘ are available for linking your social medias.

Scroll Top

Sometimes, we might be lazier to scroll to top. Regarding this, Scroll Top is provided which an option to enable (show) or disable (hide).

Excerpt Length (Content Length)

Contents are very long and to display all of them is not good, right ? So, we have an option to set and control the content length by yourself. Minimum 20 words and maximum 40 words can be set but, that is not very poor limitation for you.

Note : This is not applicable to single posts or pages.

Banner means showing your featured posts you want to display at first view port. We know, you also want to display them with proper ways and regarding this, we have provided with banner options.

First, you can display or hide the banner as per your wish. If you want to show then, we have provided banners with two layouts. Isn’t it great? First banner layout can be shown in slider as per your number of posts to display and second one shows up to 3 posts.

You can select categories manually or from the latest post categories. Regarding post type, you can set to popular posts (based on comments) and recent posts (based on date). And of course, you can edit banner button title also.

You can enable or disable to display categories of post as well as to display fallback image where post doesn’t have image to display.

Homepage Options

Homepage is your precious one and here we come up with Homepage Options.

In these options, you can select the homepage post listing layout which comes with 2 different layouts – List and Grid 2 Column layouts. Cool! Right?

Beside it, you can select the position of sidebar for homepage or hiding them by choosing full width. Also, you can edit the button title as per your wish.

You can enable or disable to display post category, post author, and post date as you want.

Additional Information : More Homepage post listing layouts are available in Pro Version.

Site Pages Options

We have referred site pages as archive pages, search pages and single post. You can also edit the archive page, search page and single post.

Archive Page

All the options are actually same as of Homepage Options. That means, you can select the post listing layout, set sidebar position and edit button title also.

Search Page

All options found in search page is also of Homepage Options as you know already about selecting post listing layout, sidebar position and editing button title.

Single Post

All options for single post are found in this section. You can enable or disable to display for all posts. Beside it, you can edit the related posts tile and meta to display for related posts also.

Pagination Options

If you are wondering about setting pagination of your wish then absolutely you can find here. You can find Pagination Setting and there you can set middle size of pagination. Pagination format and custom text also.

Additional Information : More Typography and Color Options are available in Pro Version.

What you think of footer? Copyright text, social links? Absolutely you are right.

You can enable (show) or disable (hide) social links in footer section. As well as, you can edit Copyright text as well.

Another major features of for footer is, you can select the footer mode that is, Light Mode or Dark Mode. Isn’t it cool.

Additional Information : Removing author link is only available in Pro Version.

Understanding Widgets Area & Custom Widget

We hoped, you enjoyed the options of customizer and set your options as per your wish. Now, it’s time to get out of customizer and moving for widgets.

Before using widgets, you have to understand Widgets Area of ‘Wishful Blog‘. This will clear about widgets area and widgets to use for site.

Now, you have to navigate to Dashboard – Appearance – Widgets. There you can see different widget’s area on right side and widgets available on left side.

Note : We assume that, you are in Widgets of your site followed by above instruction.

Widgets Areas


Sidebar is basically displayed in right side or left side of every page. If not any widget is kept in sidebar, then it will be shown in full width.

Homepage Top Widget Area

This widget area is only for homepage of your site. It will be displayed between banner and homepage post listing layout.

Footer widgets area is divided into 3 equally columns. It is displayed just above footer copyright area or footer social links if is enabled.

Footer Widget Area : Left

All the widgets here will be displayed in left side of the footer.

Footer Widget Area : Middle

All the widgets here will be displayed in middle of footer that means, just between left and right footer widgets area.

Footer Widget Area : Right

All widgets here will be displayed in right side of the footer.

WooCommerce Sidebar

If you have enabled or activated WooCommerce, then you will find WooCommerce Sidebar which will be displayed in WooCommerce Pages.

Note : If you have any confusion, you can read description which is just displayed below the widget area title.

Basically, you can see default widgets area of WordPress as well as custom widgets of Wishful Blog Theme. You can easily recognize Custom Widgets of Wishful Blog by its color (Golden Yellow Color).

Here, we will be talking about only custom widgets. Default widgets can be used to every widgets area and depends upon your choice but make sure, default widgets to use in right areas.

We don’t recommend you to use default widgets to Homepage Top Widgets Area.

WB : Author Widget

You might want to show author to your site then this widget is for you. You have to create a page and set title as author name and go on writing description.

Once you have created page, from author widget, set the widget title, and select the page you created for author. Then you can also set link title for that page also.

Note : Use this widget on all widgets area except Homepage Top Widget Area.

WB : Homepage Post Widget

Widget name is enough to understand, right? This widget displays the posts in slider. You can set widget title, post type – Popular Post (based on comments) and Recent Posts (based on date).

Beside it, you can set the number of posts to display and display options like comment number or category of individual posts.

Note : Use this widget only for Homepage Top Widget Area.

WB : Post Widget Layout One

We have provided widgets for showing posts and this is layout one. You have to set widget title, select popular or recent posts, number of posts to display and choose one between display options.

Note : Use this widget in all widgets area except Homepage Top Widget Area.

WB : Social Widget

We know, showing social links in header and footer is not enough or want to show by different ways. So, regarding this, we have provided social widget for you. There are different 6 social medias options which amazing design.

Note : Use this widget in all widgets area except Homepage Post Widget Area.

Additional Information : Additional Widgets and advanced options for widgets are available in Pro Version.

Creating Single Post/Page & Extra Options

Creating single posts and pages are easier in WordPress. You can navigate to Dashboard – Posts (for creating posts) or – Pages (for creating pages). This is common option in WordPress. But what means by this section? You might be thinking of it, right?

Wishful Blog is Gutenberg compatible theme where you can use default Gutenberg blocks and are managed properly to your content. Feel free to use any Gutenberg blocks and express your writings with our theme.

Beside it, Extra options means you can set sidebar position of individual posts manually. That is what wishful means. You can choose sidebar position to right, or left or full width (no sidebar) as per your wish.

Additional Information : More single post/page layouts are available in Pro Version.

You can insert the images of your choice with good resolution in this theme. The 1200×900 size images will be the best throughout the site.

Beside it, you can upload following image sizes as per layouts :

  1. The recommended image size for full width is 1200*900 PX.
  2. The recommended image size having sidebar is 800*600 PX.
  3. The recommended image size for post listing is 780*600 PX.
